Blog January 2018

Dear parents, carers and friends of Crosby High,

First of all I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year from all of us at Crosby High. We are feeling refreshed after our lovely long Christmas break and ready for another exciting term at Crosby High.

As you know form the newsletter, Mr Howard retired at Christmas. We have therefore appointed a new lead teacher for IT and computing, Mr G. Molyneux. Mr. Molyneux is a very experienced teacher with a passion for IT and computing. He has come to us from Savio and we warmly welcome him to our team.

Thank you for your continuing support with uniform. The children have arrived back in school after Christmas looking very smart. Many of them have lovely new winter coats, so could I make a plea that all uniform is named. We have at the present time a pile of unnamed jumpers and cardigans. During assembly the pupils are shown this lost property. If your child has lost either a jumper or a cardigan, please contact the school office.

We are delighted to be able to tell you that with your support we raised £200 for the Cafod appeal from the collection in the bucket at the end of the Christmas Show and from the sale of tree decorations and prayer cards that the children had made in RE and sold. Thank you for your generosity.

I have two notices for you.

1)    Can you please ensure you complete the paperwork sent to you as part of your child’s annual review and can I please encourage you all to attend. This is a really important meeting that only happens once a year and is totally focused on your son or daughter’s needs. The decisions made in these meetings have a great impact on your child’s progress and the support they can expect to receive and is legally binding through the EHCP. I release 2 members of staff for the full day (Mrs Morgan our SENCO and the class teacher) which is a huge resource so I really do encourage you to take this opportunity and attend.

2)   The next Parents Forum meeting is on Thursday 26th  January at 10am and as always we would welcome more members so please join us if you feel you want to be more involved in supporting the school.

Finally I am delighted to tell you we have started our new term with a fantastic present to us all, our new minibus has arrived!. The whole school went out to greet the bus as we gave her a heroes welcome!! One of our wheelchair users, Kyle, had the honour of cutting the ribbon for the bus to enter our grounds. Already classes with pupils in wheelchairs have used the bus this week so for the first time a whole class can be together as opposed to the wheelchair user being transported separately in a taxi. What a difference this will make for our children. Thank you all once again for your support with the fundraising for this bus. We now need to continue because we do need a second one. Please have a look in our gallery at the photos of the bus arriving.

Oxton-Grant , over and out.
