Parent’s Forum
(Crosby High Parent Support Group)
The Parent's Forum at Crosby High School was set up approximately five years ago by our Learning Mentor. The aim was initially to raise funds through bidding for grants to support developments in school directly linked to benefits for pupils and their families. One of the foci of the group was to be able to provide opportunities for families to meet together and support each other, whilst engaged in trips out and other fun and interesting activities. School recognised the need to offer support during holidays and wanted to create an environment where parents could share their experience and expertise around a whole range of issues which affect the families of children with additional needs.
The forum have become an established group of “Core Members” and have managed to progress into a charity (Crosby High Children’s Support Group) working on behalf of parents to provide funding which will enable families at Cosby High to meet regularly and support families to develop confidence to access as much support as they can as well as ensuring families can enjoy leisure time together. Activities led by the parents forum are termly "Family Fun" nights such as Bingo, Quizzes and day trips during the summer holidays for example to the Southport Pleasureland or Chester Zoo.
